Founded in 2015 by Karina Rome, Assista exists to give growing businesses the cultural fit of a US-based assistant and the cost leverage of nearshore talent, without compromising on either.

2015, THE BEGINNING

It started with one assistant, and a problem.

In 2015, Karina Rome was a solo virtual assistant. She loved the work, loved her clients, and saw firsthand how transformative the right support could be for a busy founder. But she also ran into the same walls every solo VA hits: a sick day meant a client's day stopped. A vacation meant scrambling. Growth meant overcommitment. And clients who needed coverage across roles had to hire, and manage, multiple freelancers across multiple time zones.

THE TRADE-OFF NOBODY TALKED ABOUT

A choice between price and quality. Karina refused to pick.

Karina watched business owners get forced into a false binary. Hire a US-based agency and pay $35–$50 an hour for cultural fluency and real-time collaboration, or go offshore to the Philippines or South Asia, save money, but inherit a 12-hour communication lag, graveyard-shift burnout, and the constant friction of language and cultural gaps.

Neither option served the founders she worked with. They wanted both: native-English communication, US cultural alignment, real-time responsiveness, at a price that didn't consume their margin. So Karina set out to build the bridge.

THE AGENCY MODEL

From solo operator to a real team behind every client.

Karina rebuilt the VA model from scratch. Instead of recruiting from low-cost, high-lag regions, she went nearshore, building a roster of college-educated, bilingual, US-time-zone professionals who could pick up the phone, jump on a call, and fit seamlessly into a US business culture. Instead of leaving each VA solo, she wrapped them in a team: a dedicated lead, a backup assistant, SOP training, and built-in coverage for sick days and vacations.

Today, Assista has grown into a full operating partner for service businesses - combining human virtual assistants, conversion-engineered websites, and AssistaOS, our white-labeled platform for CRM, automation and client communication. One team. One bill. Zero downtime.
